Israel to Accept some refugees

Ever since my articles came out in the spring about the Sudanese refugees in Israel, the last part of the series pointed the way toward a solution:  Israel should announce taking in xx number as part of its humanitarian commitments and special sensitivities and to work with the UNHCR and third countries on resettling the rest.  This could have been a major PR coup but they botched it big time. 

When I met with the Foreign Minister in November, 06 along with Ruth Messinger of AJWS, I proposed the Begin Vietnamese model.  Finally, the Minister of Interior, Meir Sheetrit, announced yesterday it as the moral and policy basis for a decision to move forward…
